Roulette is French for a small wheel. Here are some stories relating
to its origins.
Some say that Pascal was trying to come up with a machine for perpetual
motion. He engineered a large wheel for one of his experiments when
a friend decided to use it for gambling.
Another story is about Francois Blanc who set up the first casinos
in Monte Carlo. It is said that he sold his soul to the devil for the
secret of roulette. Maybe this is why the sum of all the numbers on
the wheel is 666.
